The Queen Hotel is on the main street running through Phunphin town and very easy to locate from or to the train station. This is a budget hotel and the rooms match the price – cheap. This hotel is often booked as an alternative to waiting on the platform for the later departures, particularly the train to Penang, which departs at 01.26 or the 23.57 departure to Bangkok. The more expensive air-conditioned rooms are much better than the fan rooms and we recommend that you spend the extra amount if you plan to stay the night at the Queen Hotel.
This is a better hotel the Queen Hotel, but it is slightly more difficult to find. The way to get there is to take the foot bridge over the train train tracks to the opposite side of the station to the main entrance. From the end of the foot bridge carry on straight down the side street and turn right on the main road. This a type of hotel which the Thai hotel industry terms a ‘Mansion’. This means fairly large rooms, with air-conditioning, tiled floors, good standard of cleanliness and a TV showing Thai language channels. Functional.
This is a great small independent guesthouse. It is worth the extra money and the extra walk compared to the two closer hotels to Surat Thani train station. Large rooms, free WiFi, satellite TV, comfy beds and effective air-conditioning. The best thing about this hotel, however, is the management. Like many of the best family run hotels they will go out of their way to make your stay a happy one and help you get to the train station or airport when you leave in the morning. Nice people, nice rooms, and a pleasant 14 minute walk to get there from the train station.
To reach this hotel take a taxi from the taxi rank in front of Surat Thani train station. There are two room types here. This is a new hotel which opened in 2016 so the furnishings all look very nice. The hotel has a small restaurant and room service which is useful if you simply want to relax before the next stage of your journey.

This hotel is a smart choice although more popular with Thai and Malaysian tourists than Western visitors. All rooms are air-conditioned, en-suite and come with free WiFi.
